Mario will meet some colorful new friends and foes and solve various puzzles using his ever-growing number of special abilities among some of the most innovative designs and ideas to ever come out of gaming. So, in turn, the process of finding each one is like a unique and self-contained storyline. The stars are all hidden away in different portions of the world.
The quest develops to involve the search for seven crystal stars, each one a powerful artifact. Branching out from there Mario will gradually discover its secrets as he attempts to decipher a treasure map Princess Peach left in his care. Which serves as the game's core location. She was last seen in Rogueport, a seedy and mysterious coastal town far from the familiar reaches of the Mushroom Kingdom. Princess Peach has gone missing to no surprise, and it's up to Mario to find her. A quintessential game set in the Mario universe, which is although paper - is never paper thin, just fantastic! Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door formulates together a fusion of developed gameplay style that remains unique for an RPG, stunning graphics and excellent music and sound effects, a game that is quality on all fours. I was very satisfied with this game and I hope Nintendo produces another one with the same quirks and battle system us Paper Mario fans deserve. They can gain ablities and attacks as well as Mario can and are a essential part for helping you take down enemies easier.Įssentially, there are a number of dungeons, with their own backstory and twists, characters, and the Crystal Star, to open the Thousand Year Door to find the legendary treasure that sleeps within. The player starts off the story in a way fashionable to the first, with Luigi and Mario recieving a letter from Princess Peach, informing them that she has a treasure map, as shown in the game's introduction prior to the title screen.Īlong the way, Mario will gain a party of humorous and lovable partners, such as the shy koopa, Koops, or the lovesick Flurrie. Controls, replayability, characters, well, everything. Paper Mario TTYD, as I abbreviate it, takes everything of it's predecessor Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64 and makes it better in every aspect.
It is a 3D world with with the familiar cast of 2D characters we all know and love Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and, of course, any Mario game wouldn't be comeplete without Bowser. I haven’t finished the game yet so I am clueless where will the story goes and as soon as I am done with this game, I will bestow my final critique on Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door.Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is simply none other then an amazing game. On the positive note, the story is quite appealing- Mario and his troops saving Princess Peach ( again) from some alien like villain ( I forgot) and collecting Crystal Stars from the evil doers or the level bosses of the game. Honestly, I was so jaded to tears of how it is so simplistic in terms of gameplay and those pesky long lines of text driven dialogues between your character and the whole cast is a big letdown. In comparison with today’s modern games while playing Paper Mario right now, I feel that the game was meant to be played on the early 2000s. Besides from that, the game is a traditional jrpg (japanese role playing game) turn-based combat just like final fantasy, dragon quest etc. I fancy the innovative graphics of this game because it was made on paper ( the entire game was paper themed – so it was cutesy and cool!).
Prior to this, I played the first Paper Mario on the Nintendo64 via Project64 which is also an emulator (I enjoyed it). It was 2004 when this game was released and it met pretty good reviews from some game review sites. Few weeks ago, I started the game called “Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door” and played it on Dolphin Emulator ( Dolphin 4.0) since I don’t have a Nintendo Gamecube.
